Richie grew up on a remote sheep station northwest of Port Augusta, where he developed a strong passion for agriculture and an empathy for the difficulties that face Australian growers. He undertook a Bachelor of Agriculture Science degree at the University of Adelaide. It was at university where he developed a keen interest in the grains industry, with particular focus on pulses. He completed his degree while working with SARDI, based out of Clare in the state’s mid north region. Richie’s previous experience in grain marketing as well as 5 years in the research and development sector has provided him with a strong understanding of South Australian cropping systems and the grain marketing landscape in Australia.
“I am very passionate about helping growers get the most out of the hard work that they do and have a lot of respect for hard yards they put in every year to feed the country and the world.”
