Market Check Increases Footprint in South Australia

Market Check has seen steady growth in the number of growers utilising its grain marketing services in South Australia since it began operating in the YP in 2007. In recent years, through a strategic partnership with FREE Eyre Limited, the number of growers in South Australia utilising Market Check’s advisory services, particularly across the Eyre Peninsula, has grown significantly. Market Check has also produced market leading returns from both its year-round grain marketing advice and its Strategic Program (pooling). As a result, Market Check has made the decision to appoint two dedicated resources based in South Australia to maintain the strong relationships that have been built and continue to add value to the businesses of our clients.

At the same time, FREE Eyre Limited have made the decision to focus on creating more competition and value within the South Australian supply chain by outsourcing all grain marketing activities to Market Check. FREE Eyre Limited CEO, Mark Rodda said “Market Check have done a stellar job for South Australian growers since our partnership began in 2016. Through outsourcing all grain marketing activities, we can maintain our strategic partnership with Market Check whilst focusing more on the core parts of our business. We look forward to pursuing the development of Port Spencer and creating competition within the Eyre Peninsula supply chain.”

Tess Walch and Bec Roberts have been appointed as Commodity Advisers for Market Check based in regional South Australia. Tess will be based in Streaky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula having previously worked for FREE Eyre Limited under its grain marketing arm, FE Grain. Tess grew up on a broadacre cropping property in Patchewollock in the Victorian Mallee. She has tertiary qualifications in Applied Finance and is a 2018 participant in the Grain Growers Ltd Australian Grain Leaders Program. Tess has previously worked for Market Check based in their head office in Sydney before moving down to work for FE Grain in 2016. “I have developed strong relationships in South Australia over the past 3 years and with the market leading research and strategy support from Market Check, I am confident I can increase returns for grain for growers across South Australia.”

Bec Roberts has been involved in the South Australian agricultural industry since 2011 having previously worked for CRT as the Logistics Manager and for Agfarm as the Eastern SA regional manager. Bec grew up on the Fleurieu Peninsula and will be based in Bordertown servicing growers across the Eastern SA region. “I’m a big believer in building strong client relationships and look forward to reconnecting with growers across Eastern SA and tapping into the Market Check network to help generate increased returns for grower clients.”
